It has come to end for this year's study of the Book of Isaiah. It is not easy to understand the Book because it involves a very complicated historical background and another level of spiritual meaning. But the guided study helped understand God's Salvation in the past, present and future.

In Book of Isaiah, there is a plentiful use of imperatives. These imperatives can be seen as catchphrases drawing readers' attention and response to God's messages, for example, hear, listen, come, see, comfort, awake.......

Hear, O heavens! Listen, O earth! For the LORD has spoken: ....... ---- 1:2a

Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD. --- 1:18a

See, a king will reign in righteousness and rulers will rule with justice. --- 32:1

Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. --- 40:1

Awake, awake, O Zion, clothe yourself with strength. --- 52:1

Sing, O barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labour; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband, says the LORD. --- 54:1

Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labour on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David. --- 55:1-3

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. --- 60:1

Pass through, pass through the gates! Prepare the way for the people. Build up, build up the highway! Remove the stones. Raise a banner for the nations. --- 62:10

Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. --- 65:17

These words work as highlighters to the messages that require attention. So, what would the responses to these? May be Romans 10:17 can be a response to the question, "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ."
